M. B. Lamar Middle School proudly celebrates our Mighty Lion Band Directors for representing the campus at the prestigious Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio.
On Friday, February 13, 2026, Band Director Ms. Rodriguez, along with Assistant Directors Mr. Reyes and Mr. Martinez, presented a clinic titled “From the Start: Strategies for Beginner Band Pedagogy” at the Henry B. González Convention Center. The session focused on innovative methods for developing beginner musicians and drew band directors from across the state, who left inspired and equipped with new strategies to implement in their own programs. Attendees praised the clinic for its practical insights, clear instruction, and the passion the Lamar staff brought to every part of the presentation.
“This is a tremendous honor for our band staff and our school,” said Principal Ms. Valdez. “Ms. Rodriguez, Mr. Reyes, and Mr. Martinez are not only shaping the musical growth of our students at Lamar, they are also sharing their expertise to help music educators across Texas elevate their programs. Their dedication, professionalism, and innovative approaches make all of us proud to be part of the Lamar community.”
The Mighty Lion Band has long been a source of pride for the campus, and this recognition at a statewide convention further underscores the excellence of our music program. By presenting their clinic at TMEA, Ms. Rodriguez and her team not only highlighted Lamar Middle School’s commitment to student growth and achievement, but also contributed to the broader field of music education, leaving a lasting impact on educators and students beyond their own campus.
Congratulations to Ms. Rodriguez, Mr. Reyes, and Mr. Martinez on this outstanding accomplishment, and thank you for continuing to inspire both our students and educators across Texas.
