M.B. Lamar Middle School is proudly shining a spotlight on one of its standout students this week. Eighth-grader Averie Contreras has been officially named the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) 8th Grader of the Month, a prestigious recognition celebrating leadership, academic dedication, and exceptional character.

The LULAC Grader of the Month award is designed to honor students who go above and beyond, demonstrating not only strong academic effort but also a meaningful, positive impact on their school campus. According to school administration, Averie perfectly embodies these ideals both in and out of the classroom.

"Averie represents the very best of M. B. Lamar through leadership, responsibility, and a strong commitment to success," the school shared in a statement. "This recognition through LULAC highlights students who demonstrate academic effort, character, and a positive impact on their campus, and Averie truly reflects all of these qualities."
