The M.B. Lamar Middle School Cross Country team is proving that hard work, endurance, and true Lion grit pay off in a big way on the course.
The momentum began at the UISD Meet on September 12th, where the Lions left everything on the line. Leading the pack for Lamar were 8th-grade runners Ryan Martinez (8th Place) and Guillermo Venegas (10th Place), along with 7th-grader Ayden Tinoco, who captured 9th Place in his division.
Building on that fire, the Lions brought their absolute best to the LISD Meet of Champions on September 19th. Competing against every middle school in the district, Lamar put on a dominant team performance, capturing 2nd Place Overall in three separate divisions: 7th Grade Girls, 8th Grade Girls, and 8th Grade Boys.
The meet featured stellar individual highlights across the board:
Girls Division
7th Grade: Miranda Montemayor took 1st Place overall, followed closely by teammate Cielo Diaz in 2nd Place.
8th Grade: Zoe Montemayor earned 8th Place, and Isabella Avila rounded out the top ten in 10th Place.
Boys Division
7th Grade: Ayden Tinoco crossed the finish line in 3rd Place, with Christopher Santacruz taking 5th Place.
8th Grade: Ryan Martinez secured 5th Place, while Liam Heredia claimed 10th Place.
"Every mile, every practice, and every runner truly counts," said Coach Salinas. "Our athletes show up every single day ready to work hard, push their limits, and support one another. Seeing their dedication translate into success at the district level makes us incredibly proud to be Lions."
With Coach Delgado and Coach Salinas leading the way, the Lamar Middle School Cross Country program continues to build momentum and represent its school with unmatched pride.
