M. B. Lamar Middle School observed Dyslexia Awareness Month throughout October, focusing on raising awareness, breaking down stigmas, and celebrating the unique strengths and achievements of dyslexic learners across campus.
The initiative highlights the dedicated support provided by the school’s dyslexia specialists, Mrs. Saenz-Rendon and Mrs. Ramirez, who work daily with students to develop strong decoding, reading comprehension, and self-advocacy skills. Through specialized multi-sensory instruction and targeted interventions, the campus continues to empower students to navigate learning differences with confidence.
"Dyslexia isn't a barrier to success...it's simply a different way of thinking and learning," said dyslexia teacher Mrs. Saenz-Rendon. "Our goal is to help students recognize their inherent strengths and give them the tools they need to unlock their full potential."
"When we provide the right support and strategies, we see our students' confidence soar," added dyslexia teacher Mrs. Ramirez. "Watching them overcome challenges and discover a love for reading is what Dyslexia Awareness Month is all about."
Through ongoing teacher training, accommodations, and tailored instruction, M. B. Lamar Middle School remains committed to ensuring every student receives the guidance needed to succeed academically and thrive as lifelong learners.
