Students in Coach Perez’s Health class at MB Lamar got creative this week in honor of Red Ribbon Week, putting their artistic talents to work for an important cause through a class-wide Drug-Free Poster Contest.
The initiative challenged students to design eye-catching posters that spread awareness about substance abuse prevention and emphasize the importance of making healthy, positive life choices. Throughout the week, the halls vibrated with colorful designs and powerful messages urging their peers to take a stand against drugs.
Coach Perez commended the students for their enthusiasm and deep engagement with the topic.
"I couldn't be prouder of the dedication and thought our students put into these posters," said Coach Perez. "Red Ribbon Week is all about empowering our youth to make choices that protect their health and future. Seeing their passion and creativity come through in this project shows just how committed our Lions are to leading drug-free lives."
After much deliberation, winning teams were selected across each period for their outstanding messaging and visual impact:
1st Period: Adan Gomez & Raul Aranda
3rd Period: Zarah Mendoza & Jovani Juarez
7th Period: Emily Turner & Katarina Rangel
8th Period: Luisa Amaro & Cesar Mata
While these teams took top honors, school leaders and faculty extended a sincere thank you to every student who participated. Their collective effort turned the assignment into a powerful school-wide campaign.
Way to go, Lions! Keep making healthy choices...your future is worth protecting!
