Checkmate! LISD’s named its top chess players after a fierce competition this past Saturday at the LISD PAC in the Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center. The LISD Fine Arts Department hosted an All-Star Chess Tournament for the district’s All-Star chess players. The top 10 winners were recognized with either a trophy or medal for their accomplishments.

Last week, our school community came together to celebrate National Police Week, and we want to give a massive, heartfelt shoutout to the amazing team that keeps us safe every single day.

Laredo ISD recognized its Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year and Clerical and Instructional Paraprofessional of the Year nominees during the district’s Employee of the Year Banquet which was held at the Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center.

Last Friday, the M. B. Lamar Lions 7th grade cohort had an awesome experience as we welcomed former NY Giants player Keith Davis as our guest speaker! He shared a powerful motivational message about making good choices, overcoming challenges, and being the change you want to see in yourself and others. Our Lions were inspired by his story, his honesty, and his encouragement to stay focused on their goals and future. Thank you, Mr. Davis, for taking the time to pour into our students and make such a positive impact!
