As per Laredo ISD guidelines, no costumes are allowed on campus for middle school students.
Standard dress code policy will be strictly enforced during school hours.

Some of our M. B. Lamar Lions spent an incredible, hands-on day outdoors at Bartlett Park working directly with the Rio Grande International Study Center (RGISC)!

During the trip, our students stepped into the shoes of real environmental scientists as they tested local water quality, collected samples, and studied the health of our surrounding aquatic ecosystem.

Through hands-on experiences like this, our students gain a deeper understanding of the vital mission behind RGISC: to preserve and protect the Rio Grande-Rio Bravo watershed and environment through awareness, advocacy, research, education, stewardship, and bi-national collaboration.

A huge thank you to the dedicated team at the Rio Grande International Study Center for guiding our students, sparking their curiosity, and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards! We are so proud of our Lions for leading the way in caring for our community's natural resources. 💚🦁

Red Ribbon Week – Making Healthy Choices! Yesterday, our 8th-grade students had the opportunity to participate in a health presentation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection focused on the importance of staying drug-free, making positive decisions, and understanding the dangers of drug use. As we recognize Red Ribbon Week, our goal is to educate, encourage, and empower our students to make healthy choices that will positively impact their futures. Prevention starts with awareness, and together, we can help our students build a brighter, healthier future! 🦁 Today, Lions in Mrs. Leija’s CTE class had the opportunity to learn from Anahi Rocha, owner and operator of Brightway Insurance! 💼✨ Through this special presentation, students gained insight into entrepreneurship, business ownership, and what it takes to run a business. We are thankful to community members like Ms. Rocha who share their knowledge and real-world experiences to help prepare our Lions for future success! 💚🤍

During Digital Citizenship Week, our 8th graders teamed up with GEAR-UP, our Librarian, and our Digital Learning Specialist for an immersive career exploration event in the Makerspace!

Our future innovators rotated through six dynamic stations:
🥽 Virtual Reality: Stepping into the shoes of CNAs, Electricians, and Motion Capture Specialists
🔬 Forensic Science: Analyzing crime scene evidence to crack a complex case
🎨 Graphic Design: Designing custom client logos using Canva
👗 Fashion Design: Styling custom looks for high-profile clients
💡 Entrepreneurship: Inventing original products to solve everyday problems
🎶 Advertising: Writing and recording catchy jingles and commercials

By blending digital citizenship, hands-on creativity, and real-world problem-solving, we’re helping students picture their future possibilities! ✨

🦁💚Rollercoasters in science class? Absolutely! 🎢 Ms. Moreno’s 7th graders built their own tracks and ran timed trials to put the speed formula to the test! Today, they calculated average speed and explained the physics behind every twist, turn, and drop! 🏎️💨Hands-on learning at its fastest! Way to go, 7th grade scientists! 🚀✨

🌊 Shark facts, salinity science, and clean shores! 🦈✨

Last week, our 6th graders headed to Mustang Island State Park in Corpus Christi for an awesome hands-on learning day!

Funded by the Texas Parks and Wildlife CO-OP Grant, students tested ocean water salinity, learned all about local Gulf sharks, and pitched in to clean up the beach to protect our coastline. 🧹🌊
