🏈 Lions, what a night! 🦁

Last night, our Mighty Lion Football Teams wrapped up their season with two incredible championship games.

Our 7th-grade team faced the Christen Cubs and came out on top with a score of 16 to 12, earning the championship title! 🏆

Our 8th-grade team battled the Cigarroa Bulldogs in a hard-fought game that ended in a 6 to 6 tie, earning them the title of Co-Champions! 💪

We are so proud of the heart, teamwork, and sportsmanship our Lions showed all season long. 💚

A huge thank you to our amazing administrators Ms. M. Valdez, Ms. J. Dominguez, Ms. E. Sepulveda, Ms. S. Trevino, and Mr. A. Barbosa, our dedicated coaches Dovalina, Garcia, Moncivais, Rodriguez, and Salinas. 🙌

Thank you also to all the families, students, teachers and staff who filled the stands and cheered our teams on. You helped make this season one to remember.

Anoche, nuestros equipos de fútbol americano Mighty Lions cerraron su temporada con dos increíbles juegos de campeonato.

Nuestro equipo de 7.º grado se enfrentó a los Christen Cubs y salió victorioso con un marcador de 16 a 12, ¡ganando el título de campeones! 🏆

Nuestro equipo de 8.º grado luchó contra los Cigarroa Bulldogs en un juego muy reñido que terminó en 6 a 6, ganando el título de co-campeones. 💪

Estamos muy orgullosos del corazón, el trabajo en equipo y el espíritu deportivo que nuestros Leones demostraron durante toda la temporada. 💚

🚒 A big thank you to the City of Laredo Fire Department’s Opioid Response Team! 🚒

Today, our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Lions learned valuable lessons from some of Laredo’s bravest as they shared an eye-opening presentation about opioids, fentanyl, overdoses, and the use of Narcan to save lives. Their message reminded our students of the serious dangers of drug use and the importance of making safe, healthy choices.

With Red Ribbon Week just around the corner, this was the perfect way to kick off conversations about living drug-free and staying aware. Thank you to our local heroes for their time, dedication, and service to our community! ❤️💪

As schools across the nation celebrate National Principal’s Month this October, the students, staff, and families of Lamar Middle School are proud to honor their leader, Principal Melissa Valdez, for her dedication, compassion, and commitment to excellence.

This school year’s theme, “Return of the Roar,” has set the tone for a renewed sense of energy, pride, and purpose across campus. Under Principal Valdez’s leadership, that roar has grown louder every day. From championing academic success to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture, she has inspired both students and staff to give their best and support one another.

“Return of the Roar is more than a slogan,” said one staff member. “It’s a mindset, and Principal Valdez has led the charge. She encourages us to be bold, stay focused, and believe in the potential of every student.”

Principal Valdez is known for her approachable leadership style and her consistent presence around campus. Whether greeting students in the morning, visiting classrooms, or attending extracurricular events, she is always visible and engaged. Her care for both students and staff is genuine, and her calm leadership helps keep the entire campus grounded and focused.

“She makes us feel seen,” said an eighth grade student. “Even if she’s busy, she always stops to say hello or ask how our day is going.”

Throughout her time at Lamar, Principal Valdez has worked to build a strong foundation of support and trust. She values collaboration and believes in empowering teachers and staff to grow professionally. Her leadership has helped create a school environment where learning is the priority, and where every student feels they belong.

In celebration of Principal’s Month, the school community has come together to show their appreciation in creative ways. Students have written thank-you notes, decorated doors and hallways, and created artwork celebrating her impact. Daily announcements have shared kind messages and fun facts, highlighting how much she means to the Lamar family.

“She sets the tone for everything we do,” said a teacher. “Her vision, her work ethic, and her heart are what keep our school moving forward.”

Principal Valdez also supports key initiatives at Lamar, including literacy development, social-emotional learning, and student leadership. She believes in giving students a voice and works hard to make sure every child knows their value and potential.

As National Principal’s Month continues, Lamar Middle School is proud to recognize and celebrate a leader who truly represents what it means to serve with purpose. Through every challenge and every success, Principal Valdez continues to guide the campus with grace, determination, and a clear vision for the future.

This year, as Lamar roars louder than ever, the school community knows exactly who helped bring that roar back.

Students and staff at M. B. Lamar Middle School came together this week to celebrate Dyslexia Awareness Week with a variety of themed dress-up days, all aimed at raising awareness and showing support for students with dyslexia.

Each day of the week brought a new opportunity to participate, learn, and celebrate differences:

Monday was Mistmatched Day, where students wore clashing patterns, unmatched socks, and wild color combinations. The theme reminded everyone that being different is okay and that our unique traits are something to be proud of.

Tuesday was Hat Day, giving students a chance to wear their favorite hats in support of those with dyslexia. It was a fun way to "tip our hats" to the hard work and determination of students with learning differences.

Wednesday was Wear Red for Dyslexia Day. Red is the official color for dyslexia awareness, and the school was a sea of red shirts, pants, and accessories. It was a powerful visual statement of unity and support.

Thursday was Disney Day. Students and teachers dressed as their favorite Disney characters to highlight the importance of imagination and creativity, which are often strengths for individuals with dyslexia.

Friday wrapped up the week with Superhero Day. Capes, masks, and costumes filled the halls as the school celebrated the real-life superheroes who work hard every day to overcome challenges, including students with dyslexia.

Throughout the week, teachers shared facts about dyslexia, famous individuals who have it, and strategies that support learning differences. Bulletin boards and morning announcements helped spread awareness and encouraged conversations about inclusion and understanding.

“Dyslexia Awareness Week is an important time for us to support and celebrate our students who learn differently,” said Principal M. Valdez. “Every student has unique strengths, and this week helps remind us of the power of embracing those differences.”

Dyslexia affects about one in five people and can impact reading, spelling, and writing. With the right support and encouragement, students with dyslexia can thrive in school and beyond.

M. B. Lamar Middle School is proud to be a community that stands up for all learners and helps every student feel seen, supported, and valued.
